Skeeter
Here's another ship that I created over the summer of '97. I call it 'Skeeter' because of the long, pointy nose and overall insectoid appearance.
This image found its way onto an article on the
Physical Review Focus
website in May of 2000.
From there, it was picked up by the folks at
SPACE.com
for the same article. It was then used as the title image for a series of serial sci-fi stories on the same site.

Out of curiosity, are those solar panels?

Wing-shaped solar panels, yes.

Ivory Tower
One of my personal favorites... The Ivory Tower rises from the center of the remains of an extinct volcano, with the sun setting behind.
Anyone remember the movie 'The Never-Ending Story'? ;)

I like this one too. But I like it better in the picture with the wood table. And I hated the chick in the Neverending Story--she was so whiny.
Tabletop
This images shows off a couple of POV 3.0's new features.. It uses light falloff (linear in this case, rather than inverse-square like real light) and a focal-blur camera model. (That picture in the background is a signed dcorley, too. ;)
This image is a good example of how I work. I will usually throw a bunch of 'new' features into one picture, then tweak each one individually as I go. The surface of revolution primitive, non-linear light falloff, focal-blur, and some of POV's new parse control structures were all combined for the first time in this scene.

That's a really nice wood surface.

I, too, like the wood. I think I have a thing for pictures within pictures. Reminds me of Escher or something.
Mountains
Again you have a splendid example of my astounding ability to come up with creatives names for my pictures. ;) This is still under construction, of course. I've got a great background, but.... see that nice, conveniently flat area on the central peak? Well, sooner or later, I'm going to stick a castle in there. Made of polished white marble. Or something. The only problem is that I need some pictures of castles to work from. Anyone have anything I can use?

Not one of my favorites, but if you ever get around to filling in that space, I think it will make all the difference. :)

I guess the castle is coming later. Maybe something Harry Potter-ish? I'm thinking Hogwarts belongs there.
Dining Hall
Y'all remember this one.. I've added some new goodies to it, but that one isn't done yet (and prolly will never be), so you'll have to settle for this old version for now.

My fifth favorite, but it's not as close to the rest of them. I think I like it for the Anne McCaffrey pictures on the walls. :)

This one is MY favorite! I think maybe because it reminds me of Clue. That's such a great movie.
